If PROCRIT® has been prescribed for you or someone you know, it is important that you are aware of the risks and benefits of receiving PROCRIT®.
Treatment of anemia in patients with chronic kidney disease who are not on dialysis. PROCRIT® should not be used in place of emergency treatment (red blood cell transfusion).
Treatment of chemotherapy - related anemia in patients with certan types of cancer. PROCRIT® should not be used if your cancer has a high chance of being cured.
Reduce the need for transfusions in patients undergoing elective, noncardiac, nonvascular surgery who are anemic and at risk for significant blood loss.
Treatment of anemia related to zidovudine (AZT) treatment in HIV-infected patients.
PROCRIT® has not been shown to improve quality of life, fatigue, or patient well - being.
PROCRIT® is not for patients who are able and willing to donate their own blood.
PROCRIT® is indicated to reduce the need for allogeneic RBC transfusions among patients with perioperative hemoglobin > 10 to ≤ 13 g/dL who are at high risk for perioperative blood loss from elective, noncardiac, nonvascular surgery. PROCRIT® is not indicated for patients who are willing to donate autologous blood preoperatively.
PROCRIT® has not been shown to improve quality of life, fatigue, or patient well-being.
